About
Jason R. Covington has spent more than 20 years practicing law and now focuses his practice at JoCo Legal on personal injury, estate planning, and probate matters in Kansas and Missouri. In private practice, he has helped injury clients recover millions of dollars and has guided individuals and families through estate planning and probate with practical advice, careful preparation, and strong advocacy.
Jason represents people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Injury clients turn to him when they need a lawyer who can build a case, deal effectively with insurers, and pursue full compensation. Families rely on him for clear and efficient estate planning and probate administration work designed to protect what they have built and make hard situations more manageable.
Attorneys who refer cases to Jason know they are sending clients to an experienced trial lawyer with substantial courtroom experience, sound judgment, and a disciplined approach to case preparation. He is known for being thorough, direct, and steady under pressure.
Before joining private practice, Jason spent 15 years with the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney. This included serving as a Division Chief and Section Chief of the Special Victims Unit. In that role, he litigated thousands of cases on behalf of the State of Kansas and served as first chair in more than 40 jury trials and handled thousands of serious felony matters ranging from homicides and violent offenses to sex crimes and crimes against children. He also supervised and mentored other prosecutors, led policy and legal directives across Johnson County agencies, and served as an instructor and committee leader on law enforcement and victim-centered initiatives.
Jason brings that courtroom-tested experience and leadership to every client he represents today, whether he is pursuing full compensation after a serious injury or helping a family put the right plan in place through wills, trusts, and probate administration. He is licensed in Kansas and Missouri.
