At Joco Legal, we are honored to be proud supporters of the 2025 Sunflower House Valentine Gala. This annual event is Sunflower House’s largest fundraising initiative and provides crucial financial support to continue its mission of helping children and families in need. The work that Sunflower House does is invaluable, and it’s a cause we are passionate about supporting.
Sunflower House is a child advocacy center that serves the children and families of Johnson and Wyandotte counties. It’s a safe haven for children who have experienced or witnessed physical and sexual abuse, offering a critical support system for them as they navigate through some of the most difficult times in their lives. The center provides forensic interviews, which are conducted in a sensitive, professional manner, ensuring that children feel heard and supported. These interviews are a vital part of the process, allowing investigators to gather necessary evidence while minimizing further trauma for the child.
The center is not just a place for interviews, however. Sunflower House is a warm and welcoming environment that provides on-site counseling for children and families who have experienced abuse. This holistic approach to care is crucial, as healing from such trauma requires emotional support for both the children and their families. Sunflower House helps these individuals rebuild their lives by offering counseling services tailored to their unique needs, providing them with the tools and resources they need to move forward.
In addition to its direct services, Sunflower House is committed to preventing future abuse through its comprehensive educational programs. These programs focus on educating children and families about how to recognize, respond to, and prevent abuse. By fostering awareness and providing valuable knowledge, Sunflower House helps to ensure that the cycle of abuse is broken, empowering children to protect themselves and others.
